Fungi can be found in the woods most of the time but it is in the damp and mists of autumn when they go into overdrive.  They are now fruiting all over the woods making a spectacular show.

Fungi are particularly to be found on dead and rotting wood, so as we leave many trees which have fallen or been felled right where they lay there is plenty of suitable habitat.   

And you don't have to search hard or trample the undergrowth - all of these pictures were taken from the footpaths.
