We have had a busy spring, working on a wide range of activites in Sherrardspark Wood.
Work has included:
- reinstalling the entrance sign in Malms Wood, the Garrod Walk sign and the finger post at the end of it
- filling countless bags with gravel and using them to improve some of the wood's paths
- sawing, splitting, loading and delivering loads of logs to happy customers
- starting to clean, sand and oil the wooden signs and benches throughout the wood
- pulling out holly stumps left by the council's contractors near Pentley Park
We've enjoyed record-breaking attendance at some work parties and we welcome a number of new members.
Over coming months we'll be continuing these activities plus:
- surveying the condition of the over 100 waymarker posts across the woods
- surveying areas of the woods that we've worked on over the last 10-15 years, to assess the effectiveness of our woodland management approaches
- managing the bracken growing in the Sefton plantation
